About Us

Arcadia Realty Corp. is a Dallas-based company specializing in the development of mixed-use, master-planned communities. The company was founded in 1991 in response to the need for high-quality residential communities targeted toward the production builder. In 1995, Arcadia expanded its activities to include the development of mixed-use and high-end residential communities.

Since its inception, the company has developed 30 residential and mixed-use communities in Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio. Arcadia has experienced excellent financial results in all of its ventures and has developed a strong reputation among its lenders and investors.

Arcadia is owned and operated by John Hodge and Bill Gietema, who are supported by an excellent staff of professionals and consultants. The Arcadia team has extensive experience in all aspects of land and mixed-use development. Arcadia’s mission is to remain one of the premier development firms in DFW while setting the industry standard for quality, innovation and customer service.

Managing During Turbulent Times

The U.S. housing industry is in the early innings of recovery from an unprecedented economic decline. From 2008-2012 home values in some major markets experienced declines in excess of 45 percent, and housing starts fell to their lowest level in decades. There were also significant declines in land and lot values in most markets. In early 2013, the DFW market began showing strong signs of recovery. Housing starts have increased and there is now a shortage of well located single family lots and land. The capital markets are normalizing and we are in the early stages of what we believe is a strong, sustainable recovery.

Arcadia’s management team is keenly aware of the cyclical nature of the land development business and we have always operated our company in a fiscally conservative way. We focus on well-located properties in infill or supply-constrained markets, which can be acquired at below intrinsic value. We then use our unique approach to planning and zoning to create a sustainable competitive advantage for each of our projects. We also strive for conservative financial structures with significant equity and strong financial commitments from our builders.
